Faith Is the Evidence
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." — Hebrews 11:1
Fanny Crosby could not see. A doctor's mistake when she was six weeks old left her blind for the rest of her life. She went on to write more than 9,000 hymns — more than any other hymn writer in history. When someone once expressed sympathy about her blindness, she said she was glad for it. The first face she would ever see, she said, would be the face of Jesus.

Hebrews 11 is called the Hall of Faith — a long, stunning list of ordinary people who did extraordinary things not because they could see the outcome, but because they trusted the One who could.
Abraham left his home for a country he'd never seen. Noah built a boat for a flood that hadn't come. Moses left the most powerful empire on earth because he considered the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt. They all died without receiving what was promised — and yet they held on, because faith gave them a kind of sight that eyes can't provide.
Faith is not the absence of doubt. It's choosing, again and again, to act on what you believe to be true about God even when you can't see where you're going. Faith in God's promises is the evidence that God will fulfill them. It is, as Hebrews says, the evidence of things not seen — not evidence against them.
You don't have to have it all figured out. You just have to take the next step.
Reflect
• Who in your own life has modeled this kind of faith — the kind that holds on without being able to see the whole picture?
• Is there a step of faith you've been putting off because you can't see how it ends? What would it look like to take it?
Prayer: Lord, increase my faith. When I can't see the road ahead, help me fix my eyes on who You are rather than what I can't see. I want to be someone who trusts You fully. Amen.
